![]() Basically set and forget no matter what pad mode you were using. ![]() This "feature" is really annoying as some games won't let you use (remap) "buttons" for directional controls and you are stuck using the thumbstick, even if the game doesn't need analog input! And some don't read it at all.įor example, I have one where the 'analog' light is always turned on on the controller that's plugged into it - So the left joystick is always stick number one as far as Windows is concerned, and the thumbpad is just a set of buttons, if I remember correctly they get assigned button numbers 13-16. But adapters handle it differently and let Windows know that it's pressed in different ways. Any further help would be great, I really like everything about pSX except for this issue.Ĭould someone post an example of a psx.ini file that has a working configuration of a gamepad with analog sticks so I can compare it to mine? I can post mine if anyone is interested. This feels like either a strange configuration issue or a bug to me. As I have stated above the Microsoft testing and calibration stuff work fine, as does pSX's configuration screen which is very sensitive, but usable. I have been careful to keep the red light on at all times. Some of the games I am currently trying to use include Crash Bandicoot 3 (definitely supports analog) and Castlevania SOTN. I have used the very same controller to play these games for almost a decade on an actual Playstation and other emu's like ePSXe (using the same adapter). I do not believe that this is a game related issue. I'm not for sure if that was understood or not. The likelihood of every single game you have being one that has controller problems is so small against the likelihood of their being games that don't support analog controllers - of which there are a very large number - that it's virtually impossible if you have more than two or three games.īefore I go any further, let me clarify that when I say the controller is not working except when I configure it as a standard controller, I mean that it is not working at all. There are a very few games where people have had problems with controller response but only a few. If you set the button to digital, then you're not going to be able to use the Dualshock mode properly in pSX, so the analog setting is the logical one.Īnd if you can configure the controller successfully in pSX configuration, the controller _is_ working with pSX - if it will then only work with a game if it's set to Normal mode, the game does not support analog controllers. So, since a PC application, is not going to know how the analog/digital button is set, it's not going to be able to compensate for the change in controller response. This is because a USB adapter - and hence the emulator - doesn't read the button, which changes the output of the sticks and directional buttons. Since we don't have psychic powers, we don't know what games you're playing - you neglected to say.Īnd another of Sune's points is very important - always have the analog/digital button on the controller set to analog, regardless of whether you intend to set the pad mode to Normal or Dualshock. Rotcod: The games may well have to do with it - the likelihood is that, if they don't say they support analog controllers, then they don't - and a controller set to Dualshock or Analog+rumble won't work. ![]() It's not an issue it's actually correct behaviour for an accurate Playstation emulator. This is a known issue.Īctually, Sune, to be picky, a Playstation also won't respond to a controller set to analog on the BIOS pages. PSX is very sensitive to input when mapping the analog axis and will sometimes pick up the same axis for example for both up and left, so be careful.Īlso, when pSX is set to Dualshock mode, the Playstation's built-in menu (where you enter the memory card manager or the CD player) does not respond to input. Or you need to re-check your controller mapping. If you can map all the controls there and it still doesn't work in the game you are playing, then the game does not support analog controls (it says on the cover if it supports them - another tell tale sign is if the game has the possibility to change the control scheme and the gamepad pictured in the menu doesn't have analog controls). ![]() Now open pSX, go to the control configuration, select Dual shock pad mode and map ALL the controls on your Dualshock pad to the corresponding controls in the mapper. ![]() Open Windows Game Controllers control panel and verify that it picks up movement of both analog thumbsticks. Press the analog button so that the red light is on (and leave it on). ![]()
